Animation in MENA 2026 Q1:

The demand signals reshaping MENA's animation market

cover aim26

MENA’s animation market is entering a new phase, shaped by clear differences in audience composition, content demand, and available supply.

Based on demand intelligence for 5,469 animated titles across 16 markets, Kaelan Bhojnani’s report maps the Kids, Family, Teen, and Adult segments to show where engagement is concentrated and where supply is falling short.

3 key takeaways:

  • Each audience tier needs its own strategy. Demand, audience profiles, and content origins vary across Kids, Family, Teen, and Adult animation.

  • Supply is misaligned with demand. Kids content accounts for 40.6% of supply but only 30.2% of demand. Adult animation captures 21.9% of demand from just 14.0% of titles.

  • The US and Japan divide the market by age. Together, US and Japanese titles generate more than 85% of animated demand. US content leads with younger audiences, while anime captures roughly two-thirds of Teen and Adult demand.
